Summary
AAUW offers fellowships and grants for women pursuing graduate STEM study, selected professional fields, and career-development training. These three programs have different eligibility rules, award amounts, and application windows.

AAUW International Fellowships 2027–28
Status: Closed. This fellowship supports women pursuing a first master’s or doctoral degree in a STEM discipline.
Who can apply
Applicants must identify as women, be non-U.S. citizens without U.S. permanent-resident status, and be admitted to or enrolled in their first master’s or academic or professional doctorate in STEM. Applicants need a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree. The program generally requires full-time study at an accredited U.S. institution, with additional study-location, residency, and academic requirements.
What you get
$20,000 for a master’s degree or $25,000 for a doctorate.

AAUW Selected Professions Fellowships 2027–28
Status: Opening soon. This fellowship funds full-time graduate study in selected STEM and medical professions.
Who can apply
Applicants must identify as women and be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of an eligible U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants must pursue a first full-time master’s or professional degree in an eligible field, hold a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree, and not already hold a master’s or professional degree. Study must be full-time and in person.
What you get
$20,000 toward qualifying educational and living expenses.

- Award notification is scheduled for April 2027.

AAUW Career Development Grants
Status: The Winter/Spring 2027 round is closed. The next Summer/Fall round opens in January 2027. Grants support accredited certificate or training programs that help women enter, transition into, or advance in underrepresented fields.
Who can apply
Applicants must identify as women; be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of an eligible U.S. jurisdiction; and hold at least an associate’s degree. They must have applied to or been accepted into an accredited or licensed certificate or training program in a field where women are underrepresented. Executive-leadership applicants must currently work in a field where women are underrepresented in senior leadership.
What you get
Up to $8,000 toward qualifying career-development training.
